We’re dealing with exceptional circumstances. I think I speak for all my fellow entrepreneurs when I say that the 2020 pandemic caught us totally off-guard. A lot of ink has been spilled on the subject, but for many of us, the current situation has provoked introspection into our most deeply held beliefs.
It’s been a time to reflect upon why we entrepreneurs do what we do. Starting your own business is a very personal decision. For some people, it’s about money. For others, it’s a matter of conviction and passion. The latter was the case for me.
The unique situation we’re now in has pushed KLIIN to reaffirm our commitment to our goals. All this soul-searching has led us to truly understand what we work so hard for day after day.
At KLIIN, our main objective is to create products that help our clients in their everyday lives. Our offerings must be useful, functional, and efficient&mdashwhile also being good for the planet.
We strive to employ environmentally sound practices in every aspect of our business. Through our products, we hope to help you do the same at home. We’re not perfect, but we’re always improving.
Let’s look at how.
Like many Quebec businesses, we wondered how to keep our products relevant to customers during the pandemic. For KLIIN, the solution was innovation.
What does innovation look like? For us, it’s creating new types of products in response to new realities. For example, we developed a colour-coded kit designed to avoid cross-contamination for better disinfecting practices.
It’s also keeping the environment top of mind. With every one of our products, we continually ask ourselves how we can do things more sustainably.
This ethos colours our entrepreneurial practices. All the products we create are aligned with our commitment to the environment. Take, for example, our KLIIN dish cleansing paste, which saves water and can be used in all kinds of ways.
We employ a zero-waste policy in our production process. We also recently switched to biodegradable shipping materials&mdashwhen they’re not available, we’ll pack your order in already-used boxes. At KLIIN, “reuse” is the name of the game.
Moreover, KLIIN has chosen to grow at a slow pace by only developing and offering products that perfectly match our values.
The unusual circumstances of 2020 have raised all kinds of questions for us. They’ve forced us to reflect further on our products' usefulness and reaffirm our values and convictions.
Now, six months after my first blog post on this subject, I’m thrilled about how far KLIIN has come. I’m proud of my company’s practices and proud of my dedicated team. I look toward the future with renewed confidence and hope.
